THE BLACK HISTORY PLAYING CARD DECK

Black people have labored and toiled to help build America to her present greatness. From Columbus' voyage to the new world in 1492 to today's modern technology, blacks have made significant contributions. Select any field of endeavor - chemistry, music, medicine, exploration, art, invention, drama - there is an endless list of outstanding contributions by black Americans.

  • A teaspoon of sugar in your coffee - a black American made it possible.
  • A blood transfusion needed to sustain life - A Black person made it possible.
  • Electric light bulbs in your home - A Black person helped make it possible.
  • A signal that regulates the flow of traffic - A Black person made it possible.

The 52 black men and women portrayed in the Black History Playing Card Deck are but some of the unsung heros of United States history. The number of cards in a regular playing card deck naturally limits the selection of distinguished black Americans to 52, thus omitting many black Americans with outstanding achievements.

Since most Americans are unaware of any contributions made by black Americans, it is hoped that these 52 will serve as an introduction.
